Abstract

The present work seeks to explain what the morality of compassion is, understanding its meaning and its limitations. Putting oneself at the disposal of the other as a renunciation of oneself, that is, altruism, has become the great key to the coexistence of society in the Christian mold. As a result, egoism was seen as a stain on the individual, being associated with an idea of closing oneself to other subjects. The fact is that Nietzsche undertakes the task of rescuing the pure concept of what egoism is, associating it primarily as love for oneself. The individual needs to go through, for example, the experience of loving himself in order to be able to love the other. And as a way to combat compassion, Nietzsche speaks of friendship. Human relationships take place from the affirmation of self and an establishment of affection with another person, which in turn does not annul the other, but recognizes what and who the other is. To speak of egoism is to associate it with the idea of overflow, that is, from the moment the self overflows with joy, it is that one can share it with others. And finally, it will be presented what would be First-Person Ethics and Third Person Ethics in the perspective of Giuseppe Abbà, relating them to selfishness and the morality of compassion, according to Nietzsche.
