Abstract

Pulp revascularization emerged as an alternative for the treatment of immature and necrotic teeth, consolidating itself over the years as an important and innovative therapeutic modality whose results have been increasingly promising, indicating the clinical success achieved in most reported cases in literature. However, this technique still lacks a standardized clinical protocol that can be applied under different circumstances. Thus, the present study aims to carry out a review of the proposed protocols, focusing on their differences, similarities, advantages and disadvantages, as well as the different chemical substances used and their indications. For this, a bibliographic survey was carried out in the MEDLINE and LILACS. From the information obtained with the collection of articles that met the pre-established criteria, of which 25 were used to compose the present literature review, it was verified that the most recent protocol suggests the use of an association of sodium hypochlorite (1.0% or 2.5%) with EDTA 17 % as irrigation solution; triple (or double) antibiotic paste or calcium hydroxide as intracanal medication, as there is still no consensus on which material is most recommended; and for cavity sealing. Concluded that pulp revascularization is an effective and promising technique, but there is still no consensual and standardized protocol, especially with regard to the irrigating solution and intracanal medication used, clinical steps and follow-up time.
