TRANSDISCIPLINARY TEACHING OF PORTUGUESE LANGUAGE THROUGH CHILDREN'S LITERATURE AND NATIONAL CURRICULAR GUIDELINES
Abstract
The teaching of the Portuguese language needs to keep pace with social changes, providing students with a comprehensive education that transcends disciplines and encompasses various areas of knowledge. It aims to foster the development of critical thinking, educating students with the intention of turning them into critical citizens capable of expressing themselves orally and in writing, playing a significant role within the society they are part of. The reading of fairy tales is one way in which teachers can initiate their work, incorporating social values, language, and many other themes that children's stories implicitly convey in their plots. For students to have continuous education, it is also important for teachers to work in accordance with national curriculum standards and seek ongoing professional development to keep up with social changes that directly impact education.
