CHALLENGES IN MANAGING DENTAL CLINICS IN TIMES OF CRISIS, DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC AND POST-PANDEMIC: A REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE
Abstract
Managing dental clinics has always been a complex challenge due to the need to balance quality patient care with operational efficiency and profitability. However, in times of crisis such as pandemics, these challenges intensify. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the vulnerability of the healthcare sector, including dentistry, to external shocks. Dental clinics have had to urgently adapt their management strategies to ensure business continuity while maintaining high standards of safety and patient satisfaction. Conclusions: The management of dental clinics during the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of adaptability, innovation, and the implementation of sound financial strategies. Strict safety protocols increased operating costs, affecting the financial viability of many clinics. Reduced demand for dental services, staff stress and the need for new psychological support strategies were significant challenges. Teleodontology emerged as a viable solution, albeit with technical challenges. Clinics that were able to access government support and develop diversified financial strategies showed greater survivability. Adaptation and innovation are critical to ensure business continuity and patient satisfaction in a changing and challenging environment.
