MICROSURGERY ASSOCIATED WITH SUBEPITHELIAL TISSUE GRAFT AND DENTAL ENAMEL MATRIX-DERIVED PROTEIN FOR ROOT COVERAGE: CASE REPORT

Abstract

Gingival recessions are among the causes of complaints of dentin hypersensitivity and aesthetic alteration due to root exposure. Numerous surgical techniques have been developed over the years to reduce the number of surgeries, optimize aesthetic results, and minimize patient discomfort. Based on the literature, the aim of this work is to present a clinical case report in which the microsurgery technique was used in association with a subepithelial tissue graft and enamel matrix-derived protein for the treatment of single gingival recession. Based on clinical and radiographic examination and the patient's expectations regarding root coverage, the technique of root coverage through microsurgery combined with a subepithelial connective tissue graft and enamel matrix-derived protein (Emdogain®) was proposed. The case was followed up for 6 months, during which stability of the results achieved with the surgical procedure was observed. In conclusion, this case report demonstrated that the microsurgery technique combined with the use of a subepithelial tissue graft and enamel matrix-derived protein was able to promote satisfactory root coverage, meeting the patient's expectations, and improving dentin sensitivity and aesthetics over a 6-month follow-up period.
