ANALYTICAL METHODS FOR THE ANALYSIS OF BEAMS ON ELASTIC FOUNDATIONS
Abstract
The analysis of beams on elastic foundations under several loading conditions and different types of soil is performed using symbolic algebraic computation. Contact pressures and deflection diagrams are also investigated using the Miklos Hethényi method. The research surveys the forces at fictitious points considering the infinite beam under various loading conditions. The forces that cancel out all those efforts at the fictitious points are determined. These forces, thus determined, are the end-conditioning loads. At the end, the external loads and the end-conditioning loads are superimposed using the infinite beam analysis. The result of this superimposition allows the solution of a finite beam.
