USE OF REACTIVE TARGETS FOR SHOOTING TRAINING IN THE MILITARY POLICE OF THE STATE OF PARANÁ

Abstract

This article examines the importance of firearms training for military police officers, with a focus on the use of reactive targets in comparison to static and moving targets. It is based on the premise that effective police training must go beyond shooting techniques, integrating motor, cognitive, and emotional factors essential for real-life armed confrontations. The study, grounded in literature review and practical observation, demonstrates that reactive targets offer a more realistic training environment by requiring quick responses, decision-making under stress, and emotional control. The article also discusses the stages of shooting training, the various types of targets, and the significance of neuromotor responses to specific stimuli. It concludes that incorporating reactive targets into training represents a significant advancement in the preparation of military police officers, highlighting the need to update training curricula to include these elements, aiming for a more comprehensive and operationally aligned professional formation.
