EXTRACTION OF BLACK SOLDIER FLY LARVAE FAT: SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE REVIEW
Abstract
This article aims to evaluate the feasibility of using food waste to feed black soldier fly (Hermetia Illucens) larvae to obtain fat and produce biodiesel, through a systematic literature review. The articles were extracted from several databases and selected using StArt software, which allowed the application of inclusion and exclusion criteria. The initial search yielded 677 articles, which were reduced to 17 after screening. The results indicated that food waste is a viable source for larval diet, and the biodiesel produced from larval fat presents characteristics within commercial parameters, ensuring high-quality biodiesel.
