Hyperdontia is an anomaly characterized by the presence of supernumerary teeth, with the mesiodens located between the maxillary central incisors being the most common type in the anterior maxillary region. Although frequently asymptomatic, this ectopic tooth can cause various alterations such as delayed eruption, crowding, diastemas and occlusal disturbances. Its etiology is multifactorial, with a strong genetic influence, and early diagnosis is essential to prevent complications. This paper reports a clinical case of a child with a mesiodens, addressing its clinical and radiographic presentation, diagnosis, follow-up and treatment. The case serves as a basis to discuss current approaches and best practices in managing supernumerary teeth in pediatric patients.
