ASSERTIVE POLICE INTERVENTIONS: THE IMPACT OF MULTIPROFESSIONAL COOPERATION IN ADDRESSING INSTITUTIONAL ABLEISM
Abstract
The present research aims to conduct a bibliographic and documentary survey regarding the possible police interventions, focusing on people with disabilities, and the performance of public security forces considering the differentiated use of force in interface with multidisciplinary support, both in training and qualification as well as in loco. It analyzes a set of communication and behavior techniques that the public security agent can use, along with multidisciplinary support or coordinated intervention, which integrates professionals from various areas, in addition to the police, to handle an occurrence. The methodology is based on a literature review and the analysis of legal and institutional documents. The research concludes that the expected advance is the transformation of police assistance, moving from a response based solely on force and control to one based on inclusion, strategic and assertive communication, respecting and prioritizing three non-negotiable pillars during the intervention: Personal Safety of the Public Security Professional, Preservation of Order, and Preservation of Life.
