THE ROLE OF PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS IN THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF MOZAMBIQUE IN THE CONTEXT OF INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION
Abstract
Public–Private Partnerships (PPPs) have established themselves as central instruments for mobilizing resources and promoting the implementation of strategic projects in developing countries. In Mozambique, their use has grown within the framework of international cooperation, particularly in the sectors of energy, transport, telecommunications, and agriculture. This article examines the role of Public–Private Partnerships in the economic development of Mozambique within the context of international cooperation. The general objective is to analyze the role of Public–Private Partnerships in Mozambique’s economic development in the context of international cooperation. Regarding the methodology, the study adopted a qualitative approach; in terms of its objective, it is classified as exploratory research; and regarding the choice of the research object, it is characterized as a single case study. Concerning data collection techniques, bibliographic research was used, while content analysis was adopted as the data analysis technique. The results indicate that PPPs promote investment, technology transfer, and infrastructure modernization; however, challenges related to transparency, institutional capacity, and social inclusion persist. It is concluded that an effective regulatory framework and participatory governance are essential conditions for PPPs to promote sustainable and equitable development in Mozambique.
