PLANNING FOR YOUTH VOLLEYBALL: GOALS AND INDICATORS

Abstract

Sports planning in youth volleyball should be understood as the axis that organizes and gives meaning to the entire developmental process. More than simply distributing content throughout the year, planning means coherently integrating the technical, tactical, physical, psychological, and sociocultural dimensions of young athletes’ development. When this process occurs in an articulated manner, it creates an environment conducive to meaningful learning, athletic maturation, and comprehensive development. On the other hand, the absence of systematic methodological organization tends to generate important gaps. Without clear progression criteria, teaching may become fragmented, with excessive focus on immediate performance. This favors early specialization, increases the risk of physical and emotional overload, and, in many cases, contributes to sports dropout in later stages. Therefore, planning is not merely a technical requirement but also a pedagogical responsibility. In this context, the present study aims to critically analyze planning in youth volleyball, with emphasis on the definition of pedagogical goals and the development of indicators that allow the monitoring of sports development over time. The proposal is to understand how well-defined goals and consistent indicators can guide more effective interventions aligned with the needs of each age group.
