EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGIES AIMED AT PREVENTING TEENAGE PREGNANCY: A SCOPE REVIEW
Abstract
Educational practices supported by technologies have proven effective in promoting health and preventing risks and adolescent pregnancy. Objective: to map educational technologies aimed at preventing adolescent pregnancy and to identify gaps in the literature. Methods: a scoping review conducted based on JBI and PRISMA recommendations. The research question, structured according to the PCC mnemonic, sought to identify which educational technologies have been developed for this purpose. Full-text studies published within the last 10 years were included, with no language restrictions. The search was carried out in scientific databases and grey literature, using the descriptors adolescent pregnancy, educational technology, and related terms, such as health education and prevention. Digital tools were used for screening and qualitative analysis. Data collection took place between August and September 2025. Results: of the 1,662 studies identified, 55 were selected. Among the most evident themes, the use of effective digital technologies to expand knowledge about sexual health stands out, especially when mediated by professionals. However, there is a scarcity of evidence regarding the impact of these technologies on reducing pregnancy rates, as well as a lack of articulation with health services, gender inequalities, and an emphasis on cognitive aspects to the detriment of behavioral ones. Final considerations: educational technologies have been developed to promote sexual and reproductive health among adolescents, with the potential to stimulate autonomy, conscious decision-making, and the safe exercise of their rights.
