APPLICATION OF BIOUNINEMA IN THE CONTROL OF MELOIDOGYNE JAVANICA IN BRS-ESTILO COMMON BEAN
Abstract
Bean cultivation can be affected by several factors that impact its production, such as parasitism by nematodes of the genus Meloidogyne. The use of rhizobacteria shows promise in mitigating the damage caused by plant-parasitic nematodes. Therefore, the objective was to evaluate the use of a formulation based on Bacillus subtilis-34 (Biouninema) in the control of Meloidogyne javanica in common bean. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse in a randomized block design, with four treatments: formulation concentrations of 27 mL (25%) and 54 mL (25%), Onix, and pure seeds, with four replications. The treatments were applied to BRS-Estilo bean seeds at 29 and 42 days after seedling emergence. Inoculation with M. javanica occurred 15 days after plant emergence, at a concentration of 5000 eggs. Data were subjected to analysis of variance, and means were compared using the Scott-Knott test at 5%. Fifty days after inoculation, fresh root weight, pod weight, number of pods, number of leaves, stem diameter, plant height, fresh and dry matter weight, and SPAD index were evaluated, in addition to nematological variables. The doses of the bacterial formulation and Onix used resulted in lower averages for the number of galls, masses, and number of eggs compared to the control. A reduction in the reproduction factor was observed when doses of 54 mL and Onix were used compared to the control. There was no effect of the treatments on the number of J2 nematodes or on vegetative characteristics.
