SELF-ESTEEM IN INDIVIDUALS UNDERGOING FACIAL HARMONIZATION PROCEDURES: A PRELIMINARY STUDY

Abstract

Objective: To assess the level of self-esteem of patients seeking facial harmonization procedures. Methods: Adult patients were recruited who had undergone facial harmonization procedures at a Facial Harmonization Specialization course in São Luís, MA, and via internet advertising. A questionnaire was administered with questions from the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, as well as questions developed by the research team. The data was tabulated in Excel and analyzed using the STATA program, version 14.0. Uni- and bivariate descriptive analyses were carried out. Pearson's coefficient was used in the bivariate analysis of quantitative variables. Results: The self-esteem of patients seeking procedures at the HOF was considered satisfactory, a large part of the sample considered themselves satisfied with their face and believe that self-esteem improves with procedures. Conclusion: Patients feel safer and more confident after having procedures with self-esteem that according to the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale was considered average, but we cannot attribute this result only to the aesthetic part, because the construction of self-esteem depends on several characteristics.
