EMOTIONAL REGULATION IN NURSING CARE FOR CHRONIC NON-COMMUNICABLE DISEASES: A SCOPE REVIEW
Abstract
Objective: To map, in nursing scientific production, the concepts and strategies related to emotional regulation in the context of chronic non-communicable diseases. Method: A scoping review conducted according to the Joanna Briggs Institute methodology. Searches were performed in health portals and databases and digital libraries. After screening by two independent reviewers, twelve studies met the inclusion criteria. Results: One study addressed the concept of emotional regulation when describing a nursing diagnosis. The other studies, despite pointing to emotional regulation strategies in their objectives and studying variables such as anxiety, depression, rumination, sleep quality, and well-being, did not present the conceptual basis of emotional regulation. The identified nursing interventions involved integrative practices, community strategies, digital care technologies, and self-management actions. Conclusion: In nursing scientific production, there are activities specific to assessment and intervention aimed at emotional regulation; however, conceptually, there is dissonance. Understanding the phenomenon of emotional regulation and specific care requires empirical studies to strengthen the nursing process applied to people with chronic diseases.
