FACTORES AGRAVANTES DE LA APNEA OBSTRUCTIVA DEL SUEÑO ASOCIADA AL TRASTORNO TEMPOROMANDIBULAR
Resumen
La Apnea Obstructiva del Sueño (AOS) y el Trastorno Temporomandibular (TTM) son afecciones que a menudo coexisten, afectando significativamente la calidad de vida de los pacientes. Este estudio investiga los factores agravantes de la AOS asociados a los TTM, analizando la relación entre las alteraciones anatómicas y funcionales y los hábitos parafuncionales que pueden contribuir a la exacerbación de los síntomas. La revisión de la literatura sugiere que la obstrucción de las vías respiratorias, la posición mandibular y la tensión muscular juegan un papel clave en esta interacción. Además, se discute la importancia del diagnóstico interdisciplinario y los abordajes terapéuticos que tienen como objetivo minimizar los impactos de estas condiciones en la salud del paciente. Se concluye que la interrelación entre la AOS y el TTM es multifactorial y requiere un abordaje terapéutico integrado. El tratamiento interdisciplinario, que incluye odontología, logopedia y medicina del sueño, es esencial para mejorar la calidad de vida de los pacientes afectados.
