ÔMEGA-3 E ASPIRINA COMO ADJUVANTES NO TRATAMENTO PERIODONTAL: REVISÃO DE LITERATURA
Resumo
Estudos sobre os efeitos de metabólitos das lipoxinas (ácido araquidônico) e de ácidos graxos poli-insaturados do ômega-3 (ω-3) em associação aos efeitos de potencialização do ácido acetilsalicílico (ASA) na modulação e resolução inflamatória da doença periodontal, evidenciaram resultados benéficos como terapia adjuvante ao tratamento da doença periodontal. O presente estudo se propõe a revisar a literatura atual sobre os efeitos do ω-3 e sua combinação com ASA no tratamento da doença periodontal. Estudos clínicos randomizados controlados por placebo de desenhos paralelos e duplo-cegos foram utilizados como base literária para essa revisão de literatura. Os dados obtidos demonstram melhorias nos parâmetros clínicos periodontais, na diminuição dos níveis de biomarcadores pró-inflamatórios e na modulação e resolução da resposta inflamatória da doença periodontal, evidenciando uma favorável intervenção na condição inflamatória. Nota-se que a terapia de imunomodulação do hospedeiro com ω-3 demonstra benefícios nos parâmetros clínicos e inflamatórios de acordo com a literatura atual.
Biografia do Autor
Graduado em Odontologia pela Universidade Guarulhos. Atualmente, é mestrando em periodontia no programa de pós-graduação da Universidade Guarulhos.
Dra. Castro dos Santos completou sua graduação em Odontologia na Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) em São José dos Campos. É especialista em Periodontia. Possui mestrado em Microbiologia e Imunologia e doutorado em Periodontia pela UNESP. Realizou estágio de doutoramento no Forsyth Institute (Estados Unidos), no Centro de Pesquisa Clínica e Translacional, e pós-doutorado em Periodontia na Universidade Guarulhos. Atualmente é docente permanente do Programa de Pós-graduação em Odontologia na Universidade Guarulhos.
Dra. Feres é periodontista (especialização e mestrado), Doutora em Biologia Oral pela Universidade de Harvard (EUA) e Pós-doutora em Microbiologia pelo Forsyth Institute (EUA). Ela é a coordenadora do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Odontologia da Universidade Guarulhos (único programa em Universidade particular com nota de excelência da CAPES) e Associate Professor do Forsyth.
