Abstract

The theme addresses “People management and educational culture” in the municipality of Itapiranga-AM. The main objective is to discuss the practice of people management and educational culture, pointing out paths for the development of democratic management in rural and urban municipal institutions in Itapiranga-AM. Based on this, the theoretical approaches that support the research and the discovery of possible solutions are grounded in authors such as Cury (2002); Candau (2003); Freire (2000); Luck (2009); Maciel (2015); Paro (2008), among others. The methodological instrument applied is field research, through participant and non-participant observation, using as tools the field diary, questionnaires, and interviews conducted with family members, teachers, students, and other staff. Data collection consists of understanding the reality to be interpreted through the search for information on phenomena empirically investigated, in order to support the methodological approach, which is a descriptive-qualitative research. The methodology is based on the inductive method of approach. The results obtained indicate the lack of motivation and disinterest of education professionals; failure to fulfill their duties and lack of commitment to the profession; lack of interest in studying and learning; lack of support from society in general and from local authorities. It is concluded that the chosen theme, aiming to discuss the practice of management and educational culture, may contribute by pointing out paths for the development of democratic management.
