EVALUACIÓN DEL CONOCIMIENTO DE PROFESORES SOBRE AVULSIÓN DENTAL EN DIENTES PERMANENTES
Resumen
El desplazamiento completo del diente fuera de su alvéolo es un tipo de traumatismo alveolodentario denominado avulsión dental. Debido a los daños que puede ocasionar en niños y adolescentes, el traumatismo alveolodentario puede considerarse un problema de salud pública. Los profesores son profesionales que comúnmente se encuentran con lesiones traumáticas, ya que el ambiente escolar es propicio para este tipo de acontecimiento. Por ello, conocer la conducta correcta ante casos de avulsión dental es fundamental para un buen pronóstico. El objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar, mediante un cuestionario adaptado, el conocimiento de los profesores sobre la conducta frente a un posible caso de avulsión dental. Para la realización de la investigación, 116 profesores respondieron un cuestionario con preguntas objetivas referentes a la avulsión dental. La mayor parte de la muestra estaba compuesta por especialistas, con 11 a 20 años de actuación. De los profesores entrevistados, el 30% ya había presenciado una situación de avulsión dental, el 72% refirió desconocer los procedimientos que deben realizarse en estos casos y más de la mitad informó no sentirse segura para realizar el reimplante dental inmediato. Los resultados señalan desconocimiento de los educadores sobre la conducta ante la avulsión de dientes permanentes y sugieren la necesidad de educación continua para mejorar el pronóstico en estos casos.
