ÁCIDO OKADAICO EM CÉLULAS EUCARIÓTICAS: MECANISMOS, IMPACTOS NA SAÚDE HUMANA E DESAFIOS PARA O MONITORAMENTO

Resumo

As florações de algas nocivas (FANs) caracterizam-se pela proliferação de microalgas capazes de gerar graves impactos aos ecossistemas aquáticos e à saúde humana, especialmente pelo consumo de organismos filtradores contaminados. O ácido ocadaico (AO) é uma das principais toxinas marinhas associadas a esses eventos, sendo o agente causador da Intoxicação Diarreica por Moluscos (DSP). Atualmente, há crescentes evidências de seus efeitos tóxicos em diversos modelos biológicos. Este artigo de revisão analisa a literatura publicada entre 2019 e 2025 para elucidar as evidências mais recentes sobre a toxicidade do AO. O estudo foca em seus mecanismos de ação, manifestações clínicas, efeitos crônicos e ecotoxicológicos, além de avaliar os atuais métodos de detecção e estratégias de gestão de risco. Por fim, a revisão destaca lacunas de conhecimento e recomenda prioridades para a pesquisa e vigilância, visando a mitigação dos riscos à saúde pública e à aquicultura.
