INTERVIEW WITH MARO PEBO - A SYMBIOTIC RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ART AND SCIENCE

Abstract

The present manuscript is an interview with the artist Maro Pebo, in which the Mexican artist-scientist tells a little about her biography and main works that revolve around the interface between art and science. The manuscript is divided into a brief introduction on the subject of the so-called Sci-Art, followed by the interview. The artist talks about her avant-garde production, which shows a connotation of breaking between the borders of art and science, two distinct and complementary forms of expressions of human culture. Maro Pebo's works develop experiments that bring themes related to scientific knowledge, but in an artistic way, such as the study of mitochondria, symbiosis between living beings and others. The interviewee points out about her inspirations and creative process, giving the reader clues about the restlessness of producing art-science in the contemporary world.
