Abstract

This systematic review aims to gather knowledge from previous studies, selecting important data that demonstrate the impact of renal failure in low-income regions. Based on the analyses, it was identified that African American individuals predispose to genetic variants that increase their risk for chronic kidney disease. In addition, the malnutrition of pregnant women leads to the birth of children with low birth weight, a fact that results in the possible development of chronic kidney disease. The articles also reveal that the lack of primary health care results in an increase in diseases that are risk factors for chronic kidney disease, such as diabetes and hypertension. Finally, individuals living in places of low socioeconomic status have a great disadvantage in accessing renal replacement therapies, which sharply increases the mortality rate in these regions.
