CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE CONNECTED SOCIETY TO THE HISTORY OF SCIENCE IN BRAZIL AND WORLDWIDE FROM A DIGITAL PERSPECTIVE
Abstract
This article analyzes how the connected society, marked by digitalization, interactivity, and global networks, impacts the History of Science, from its production to the preservation and dissemination of knowledge. It explores how information technologies transform scientific practices, promote international collaborations and open science networks, and challenge traditional models of scientific validation. This is a qualitative study of a theoretical and historical-comparative nature, grounded in bibliographic review and analysis of emblematic cases of international scientific collaboration. The study articulates classical and contemporary perspectives, drawing on the contribution of authors such as Castells, Kuhn, Latour, and Popper, as well as relevant historical experiences such as the Human Genome Project, the Event Horizon Telescope, and the global response to COVID-19. The text emphasizes the importance of digital platforms (SciELO, Arca Dados, GitHub, among others) in the democratization of knowledge, although it recognizes challenges such as digital inequality, access barriers, and epistemic asymmetries. In the Brazilian context, the advancement in open science policies is highlighted, despite structural limitations. The article proposes a more inclusive, ethical, and collaborative science, reflecting on its political, social, and epistemological impacts, and drawing attention to the importance of scientific sovereignty and equity in access to knowledge.
