PRINCÍPIOS DE TERAPIA PALIATIVA NA ASSISTÊNCIA ÀS PACIENTES COM CÂNCER DE MAMA METASTÁTICO

Considerando o aumento do número de casos de câncer, em especial do câncer de mama, parte deles sem possibilidade de cura, fica evidente a necessidade e a importância de cuidados paliativos que visam conforto e gestão no fim da vida dos pacientes oncológicos. O objetivo deste trabalho é definir quais as principais recomendações de terapêutica paliativa propostas na assistência às pacientes com câncer de mama metastático. Foi realizada uma revisão integrativa da literatura, com os descritores em Ciências da Saúde “Metastatic breast cancer” AND “Palliative care” nas seguintes bibliotecas virtuais: MEDLINE, PUBMED, Literatura Latino- LILACS e SCIELO. A utilização de cuidados paliativos em pacientes com câncer de mama metastático aumentou significativamente nos últimos anos. Esta intervenção é benéfica para melhorar a qualidade de vida de mulheres metastáticas. A maioria dos estudos indicam que a instituição da terapia de forma precoce melhorou as informações sobre sintomas da doença, gravidade e diretrizes de tratamento. A estratégia de cuidados paliativos impacta positivamente na qualidade de vida dos pacientes e de seus familiares por se tratar de um programa de suporte físico, psicossocial e espiritual. Outrossim, deve ser iniciada precocemente após o diagnóstico de câncer de mama metastático para garantir um maior benefício.
