Abstract

The aim of this scope review is to identify and synthesize the existing literature on the different protocols for the diagnosis of lesions suggestive of mouth cancer aimed at Primary Health Care (PHC). The following question will be examined: what is the production of knowledge about the diagnosis of lesions suggestive of mouth cancer aimed at PHC? For cancer control, the World Health Organization recommends prevention actions, early detection and access to treatment. Among these actions, early detection receives great attention from the population and the media due to the premise that the earlier the cancer is identified, the greater the chances of cure. Thus, the better delineated the care protocol, the greater the chances of making the diagnosis early. Published and unpublished bibliographic materials will be considered, according to the following inclusion criteria: papers available in Portuguese, English or Spanish, which answer the question of the research, produced between 2012 and 2022. Those who do not meet the research problem and/or who are not available in full will be excluded. The review method follows the scoping review protocol as recommended by the Joanna Briggs Institute and will use detailed and individual search strategy in at least three databases for each database. Two reviewers will screen titles and abstracts, read the full texts, and extract the data from the included material.
