INCIDENCE OF PROSTATE CANCER IN MEN IN NORTHEASTERN BRAZIL: AN INTEGRATIVE REVIEW

Prostate Cancer is one of the most common malignancies affecting men's health, affecting 1 in 1000 men, and the second that causes more deaths. The study aimed to analyze prostate cancer rates in men in the Northeast. The specific objectives were to relate lifestyle with prostate cancer rates in the Northeast; and to describe the list of public policies for the prevention of prostate cancer in Brazil, in the Northeast. This is a research conducted by a literature review method. Articles made available in full (full text) in Portuguese, English or Spanish were selected and between 2018 and June 2022. The literature search took place in the Electronic Electronic Library Online, in the Database of Latin American and Caribbean Health Literature, accessed through the Virtual Health Library. The results found in the analysis of the articles led to the formation of 03 thematic categories. It was concluded that the profile of morbidity and mortality related to prostate cancer in men aged 55 to 70 years, in the period from 2005 to 2015, presented higher proportions of involvement in individuals who, spatially, were concentrated in cities in northeastern Brazil. According to risk factors for prostate cancer in men, present combinations of these risk factors: ethnicity, family history, obesity and smoking. It is essential that health services be offered, emphasizing the importance of periodic monitoring of their exams.
