This research presents a literature review on the role of the dentist in the prevention and treatment of oral complications in critically ill patients and aims to describe the role of the Dentist in the prevention and treatment of oral complications of critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit. For the elaboration of this study, bibliographic research was used as a methodology, enabling discussion on: Describe the main oral complications of critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit; Elucidate the main preventive and curative indications of the dentist's performance in patients hospitalized in an Intensive Care Unit; Report the management of the main preventive and curative procedures of oral complications performed by the Dentist in the care of patients in the Intensive Care Unit.
