Abstract

Permanent magnets can be destroyed by certain improper mechanical manipulations that demagnetize them, reducing their induction and, consequently, their internal energy. This assay presents a cyclic mechanical manipulation of double action, evaluating the energy balance of the mechanical and magnetic forces involved throughout the whole procedure, noting a small release of energy from the magnet in the form of mechanical work.
