ANALYSIS OF THE EPIDEMIOLOGICAL PROFILE OF DENGUE IN THE SOUTHEAST REGION OF BRAZIL: COMPARISON BETWEEN THE FIRST TWO QUARTER OF 2023 AND 2024

Abstract

Dengue is an arbovirus with high prevalence in Brazil, described as an acute febrile infectious disease, which can present in a benign or severe form. To analyze the epidemiological profile of confirmed dengue cases in the Southeast region during the first two months of the year 2024 in comparison to the same time interval in the year 2023. The data were obtained through a managed database by the Department of Informatics of the Unified Health System - DATASUS and the inclusion criteria evaluated were the reported and confirmed cases of dengue in SINAN, which are based on the standards of the Epidemiological Surveillance System of the Ministry of Health. In the region under study, 68,339 cases of dengue were reported during the first two months of 2023 and 310,780 cases of dengue in the same period of 2024. There was a significant increase in the number of suspected and confirmed cases in the southeast region when comparing the first two months of 2023 with the first two months of 2024.
