Abstract

The Global pollution, correlated with the increase in waste, is a relevant environmental challenge. The article reviews the use of the black soldier fly in the treatment of organic waste for organic products, seeking to understand the benefits of fertilization using the fly's manure, evaluating its effectiveness and nutritional composition for plants. The methodology involves 15 relevant studies that highlight the potential of organic fertilizer made from black soldier fly frass. The composition of excrement varies and the importance of stabilization processes, such as composting, has been highlighted to improve effectiveness. The fertilizer has been shown to be capable of improving soil fertility, promoting sustainable crops and reducing environmental impact, being a safe and sustainable alternative to mineral fertilizers. It is concluded that the use of black soldier fly fertilizer brings environmental and agricultural benefits, promoting the sustainable management of organic waste and circular agricultural practices. A promising alternative to deal with challenges related to global pollution and inadequate disposal of organic waste.
