Abstract

We conducted a survey of medicinal plants used by most urban and rural community of Lagoa Seca - PB in order to meet the employment of medicinal plants, the plant part used and how to prepare. 150 interviews were conducted using a questionnaire and these were random distributions in households and people. The largest use of medicinal plants mentioned in the study area were balm with 73%; mastruz with 66%, 63% mint, lemongrass and aloe to 57% with the use of elderberry with 24%, the fennel and bay with 11%, the bilberry with 5% caninha marsh with 3% and other types of medicinal plants with 21%. Use herbs or plants for the treatment of stomach ache, headache, menstrual cramps, flu, medicine in general, stomach, kidneys, inflammation, calming. The leaves, roots and the shoots are the portions used for the production of medicines. Tea is the main form of preparation plants (85%). It is noticed that medicinal plants are widely used by this urban and rural community and culture in the yard is considered a tradition.
