Abstract

The water balance on the water deficit or increase can reduce production and/or product quality, while excess irrigation, in addition to water and energy losses, can contribute to the leaching of nutrients and agrochemicals into the lower layers of soil or even reaching the water table. The objective is to perform the BH computation by the method of Thornthwaite and Mather (1948, 1955) with different field capacities (25, 50, 75, 100, 125, 150, 175, 200 mm) in addition to 1°C and 4°C increase in temperature and 10% and 20% reduction in rainfall in order to verify the influence of soil water storage at the Cabo de Santo Agostinho Academic Unit (UACSA). The indices calculated in the water balance showed spatial variability of moisture, aridity and water throughout the CAD's, being above the values established for desertification. The water balance is an important tool in the climate classification of a given region and for the presentation of the water surplus and deficiencies of the soil for irrigation, pointing out its similarities with atmospheric conditions.
