Abstract

The objective is to perform the compute of the BH by the Method of Thornthwaite and Mather (1948, 1955) with different field capacities (25mm, 50mm and 75mm) in order to verify the irrigation with monitored water deficit and the influence of water storage in the soil in the Academic unit of Cabo de Santo Agostinho. The monthly average precipitation data used were for the period 1980-2017 where, the software was used in electronic spreadsheets, to extract the values of the monthly, annual averages, plotting their respective graphs and trends. The indices calculated in the water balance showed spatial variability of moisture, aridity and water along the DCs being above the values established for desertification. The CAD's of 25 mm, 50 mm and 75 mm are sufficient for the use of the irrigation system in the studied area, therefore it is recommended to install a rain gauge for better control and performance of this system.
