Resumen

La polinización de diversas flores es posible gracias a las recompensas presentes en las flores, lo que permite una interacción trófica mutualista entre las plantas y los animales. Sin embargo, algunas flores son conocidas por su engaño alimentario, donde solo existe la señalización del recurso sin su disponibilidad real. Durante mucho tiempo, se creyó que las flores del género Vanilla exhibían esta característica. No obstante, esta asociación se está desacreditando cada vez más a través de investigaciones sobre especies dentro del género, y se necesitan más estudios para comprender mejor la morfología, anatomía e histoquímica de los tejidos nectaríferos y sus secreciones.
