Abstract

The article "Challenges and Benefits of Bilingualism: An Exploration in the Cognitive and Social Contexts, with a Focus on Brazilian Bilingual Schools" conducts a literature review on the development and implementation of bilingualism in schools, with an emphasis on the cognitive and social contexts, especially in the Brazilian context. Bilingualism in schools has become an object of growing interest, especially in the diverse context of Brazil, which has a rich linguistic and ethnic diversity. This scientific article involved an in-depth search for understanding the challenges and benefits associated with Bilingual Education, a critical analysis of academic studies in the cognitive and social contexts, focusing on some Brazilian bilingual schools. The research addresses theories, studies and educational practices related to bilingualism, providing an in-depth view of these elements in the educational scenario of Brazil. The article also discusses the pedagogical and political implications of bilingualism in Brazil, considering the historical, sociolinguistic and educational aspects that influence this reality.
