Independent digital game development has emerged as a relevant alternative to the traditional large studio model, driven by the popularization of accessible tools, collaborative communities, and public incentive policies. This study analyzes the viability of solo development using the case of the Wizard Showdown prototype, a turn-based card game created entirely by a single developer with limited resources. The research adopts a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative analysis of the creation process with exploratory tests applied to 30 players. The results indicate that 80% of participants considered the mechanics intuitive, 30% suggested a greater variety of cards, and 10% recommended aesthetic improvements. The findings suggest that individual development, when combined with prototyping practices and the use of accessible tools, is capable of generating creative and functional products, even under time and resource constraints. The study also highlights the potential of solo development to stimulate the creative economy and indie culture.
