A METHODOLOGICAL APPROACH TO THE USE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AS A SUPPORT TOOL FOR CRIMINAL ANALYSIS AND DECISION-MAKING IN PUBLIC SECURITY
Abstract
The incorporation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into public security has significantly expanded the possibilities for knowledge production, particularly in the field of criminal analysis and decision-making support. However, the use of such technologies requires structured, transparent methods compatible with human oversight in order to avoid automated or non-auditable inferences. In this context, this article aims to present a method for the use of Artificial Intelligence as a support tool for criminal analysis and decision-making in public security. The research adopts an applied methodological approach, structured under a human-in-the-loop model, in which AI operates as an auxiliary instrument for organizing, correlating, and interpreting information, without replacing human judgment. The proposed method consists of sequential and replicable stages, including system preparation, construction of a conceptual and documentary base, context creation, guided use of the tool, and critical evaluation of the outputs produced. The results indicate that the adoption of a structured method enhances analytical coherence, traceability of inferences, and the quality of the decision-making process, highlighting the potential of Artificial Intelligence as a support mechanism for criminal analysis when employed under methodological governance and human control
