Abstract

Hyperandrogenic Chronic Anovulation is a syndrome that affects women of childbearing age and can also be called PCOS. The etiology of this syndrome is considered unknown, but it is a multigenic and complex disease with epigenetic and environmental influences, causing reproductive and metabolic disorders. It is considered the most common endocrine disorder among women worldwide, being proposed as a risk factor for various metabolic diseases, increasing the importance of studies on adjuvant therapeutic measures. This study aimed to analyze and clarify the effects of omega-3 and vitamin D on the clinical manifestations of PCOS. Therefore, a literature review was carried out with research made in the databases of Latin American and Caribbean Literature on Health Sciences (LILACS), the Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo) and Medical Literature Analysis and Retrievel System Online (Medline) and this through the Public Medline platform (Pubmed), identifying about 400 articles related to the theme, published between 2016 and 2021, and among these articles some were selected using the inclusion criterion. It was found that the use of omega-3 and vitamin D supplementation caused a positive impact on lipid profile, insulin resistance, total antioxidant capacity, improvement in hormonal profile and contributed to follicular development in indivirals with PCOS. However, although the recommendation of omega-3 and vitamin D is beneficial, further studies are needed to disseminate information on the management and performance of these nutrients in PCOS.
