Nowadays, the search for sending the first manned mission to the planet Mars is in vogue among the main goals of humanity. Among the objectives linked to this, it is possible to list the interest not only in exploring Mars, but also in colonizing the planet. This article aims to present some arguments in favor of carrying out colonization missions on Mars and others against arguments presenting unfavorable aspects, including for manned missions to the red planet. The methodology is based on the survey of concepts of bibliographic references published by written and electronic means, such as books, scientific articles, web pages on the theme addressed, which is then a documentary research. Based on the results and discussions in the course of this work, it was possible to conclude that sending humans to any other planet in the coming decades, although technologically possible, it is still necessary to achieve social, economic and political improvements in order to make a self-sustaining colonizing mission feasible
