As the main cause of irreversible blindness in the world, glaucoma still has numerous obstacles in the establishment of an adequate treatment. The objective of this integrative review is to identify, describe and analyze, in research published from January 2012 to January 2022, the level of adherence to glaucoma treatment and the factors that influence it. To carry out this integrative literature review, articles in Portuguese, English and Spanish were included in the Pubmed and Scielo databases using standardized keywords through DeCS searches. Initially, 879 articles were found, and after applying the inclusion criteria, 32 were selected. The percentage of non-adherence to treatment ranged from 12.2% to 92.0%. The factors that can influence non-adherence and that were analyzed in this study can be grouped into individual factors, socioeconomic factors, disease-related factors and treatment-related factors. There was a lack of public health policies that act on these main barriers of non-adherence to treatment and, in addition, it was found that only 3 studies were carried out in Brazil, identifying a lack of studies on the subject.
