Abstract

Introduction: Quinquenary Prevention is a means of health promotion active in health professionals in order to avoid damage to the patient. Objective: To highlight the importance of Quinquenarian Prevention in promoting the health of such professionals, through educational and practical strategies in the search for improvement of the presented condition. Methods: The search for articles was performed in the periodic databases of CAPES, PubMEd, Google Academic, Latin American and Caribbean in Health Sciences (LILACS) using the following Keywords: Professional Exhaustion, Health Professionals, Pandemic, Quinquenarian Prevention, Work Environment, Worker's Health and Quality of Life. Results: 11 articles were selected for this review. From the reading of the articles, the fragility in the mental health of health workers was perceived, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, emphasizing the urgent need to implement strategies that minimize emotional exhaustion and increase the quality of life of these professionals. Thus, quinquenária Prevention becomes of great value of knowledge and applicability in this environment. Final considerations: The symptoms of psychiatric disorders that under normal conditions were already perceived in the health professional during the pandemic showed an increase. Strategies such as active listening, yoga, psychological follow-up, education in relation to the existence of five-year prevention, resilience development program, among others, are of paramount importance for the well-being of these professionals. After all, Quinquenarian Prevention encompasses such strategies.
