Abstract

The research aims to analyze and discuss the psychological and social implications of institutionalized children and adolescents aged between 3 and 18 years old. In Brazil, when a family enters into the adoption process, they usually look for newborn children and do not want late adoption, that is, children over two years old. The research production is applied in a systematic literature review, because through it the search objective can be maximized to find results according to the requested theme. Emphasizing that children and adolescents awaiting adoption have implications and delays in psychosocial development due to the absence of an affective home that ensures attention, love, affection and care for these individuals.

Doutora em biologia celular e molecular aplicada à saúde (ULBRA/RS), mestre em genética e toxicologia aplicada (ULBRA/RS). Especialista em psicologia clínica (FATEC/FAESP) e saúde mental (IBPEX). Docente do ensino superior áreas humanas e saúde, exercendo desde 2009 a função de docente no Centro Universitário Santo Agostinho/UNIFSA, Teresina-PI.
