Abstract

To understand the thinking of the university student, the mental health of the student, the adaptation to the university environment and his transition to adult life are investigated. The objective of this study was to analyze the influence of the environment on the lives of university students through a narrative review. A narrative review was conducted about the influence of the environment on the lives of university students from June to July 2023. As a source of data collection, the terms on mental health in the university environment were searched, according to the World Health Organization. Full articles of free access in the language Portuguese published between 2011 and 2018 were included. The article was organized under three aspects: The stress of academic life, drug use during graduation and psychoemotional preparation in the university environment. It was possible to perceive that the university moves with the mind and thought of academics, and stress is an aspect that must be considered because it can cause psychological diseases. Added to this, the accentuated use of drugs used by students in the academic environment was highlighted, and it was observed that the university environment influences the psychoemotional preparation, causing compromises in the students' relationships. Moreover, the transition from adolescence to adulthood has been a factor that affects the minds and thinking of academics, as some move to another city or another state to study.
