Paracoccidioidomycosis is a systemic fungal disease caused by the fungus Paracoccidioides brasiliensis. This fungal infection is more common in Latin America, especially in Brazil, and can affect individuals of all ages, including children and adolescents. The aim of the study was to describe a case of juvenile paracoccidioidomycosis in an acute form in a young male patient admitted to a hospital in Rio Branco - Acre. This is a case report study conducted through the clinical data of a young patient affected by paracoccidioidomycosis. The case involves an 18-year-old male patient with Duchenne muscular dystrophy who presented with lymphadenopathy, fever, weight loss, and diarrhea. After the diagnosis of paracoccidioidomycosis, there was cardiac and pleural involvement. Treatment included Itraconazole, Prednisone, and cardiac intervention. The patient showed improvement after treatment and was referred for outpatient follow- up in the fields of infectious disease, cardiology, neuropediatrics, and physiotherapy. The study underscores the importance of early diagnosis and appropriate treatment of the disease. The fungal infection led to cardiac and pleural complications, necessitating a multidisciplinary approach with cardiac intervention and antifungal treatment. The positive response to treatment emphasizes the need for continuous monitoring and follow-up of patients with complex medical conditions.
