EPIDEMIOLOGICAL PROFILE OF PATIENTS WITH BREAST CANCER IN THE STATE OF PIAUÍ: A DESCRIPTIVE STUDY

Abstract

Termed as a malignant neoplasm, characterized by the presence of evil cells differentiated, fast-growing, and infiltrative (Gilbertson, 2011) cancer has been a complication to public health. Breast cancer, in particular, is a pathology heterogeneous with great variation in its molecular and morphological characteristics (JOSÉ ALENCAR GOMES DA SILVA NATIONAL CANCER INSTITUTE, 2021b; Wild; Weiderpass; Stewart, 2020), being the most incident in the country and in all regions Brazilian. According to the National Cancer Institute (INCA), there is a possibility of 704,000 new cases of cancer in Brazil between 2023 and 2025 (BRASIL, 2022), which generates a alerts to the estimated amount, being the estimated number of new cancer diagnoses breast cancer in Brazil, for the period from 2023 to 2025, of 73,610 records, corresponding to one Estimated risk of 66.54 new diagnoses per 100,000 women. This is a study longitudinal, descriptive and quantitative epidemiological studies, based on the made available by the Department of Informatics of the Unified Health System (DATASUS), on breast cancer cases in the State of Piauí. It was not necessary to review it by the Research Ethics Committee (REC) because it was an evaluation of public data.
