Abstract

Wind displacement in reinforced concrete structures is a crucial phenomenon to understand in civil engineering. This work addresses the analysis and the factors that influence the horizontal displacement of structures when exposed to the action of the wind. The research begins by exploring the impact of wind as an external force on reinforced concrete buildings, highlighting its importance in structural safety. The main parameters that affect displacement are discussed, including the height of the building, the shape of the structure, the stiffness of the materials, and the characteristics of the wind such as speed and direction. In addition, structural analysis methodologies are presented, such as finite element computational models, which allow to calculate the displacements due to wind accurately. Design strategies and mitigation measures to ensure the safety of structures are also addressed, including the use of damping devices and aerodynamic techniques. This work highlights the importance of considering wind displacement from the early phases of engineering design, in order to ensure the safety of reinforced concrete structures and prevent future problems. Understanding these concepts is critical for constructing sturdy, long-lasting buildings in areas subject to windy conditions.
