ADVERSITY AND SOCIAL JUSTICE IN GAIBEÚS, BY ALVES REDOL, IN INTERFACES WITH CACAU, BY JORGE AMADO

Abstract

Faced with the current scenario, research directed at the vast Brazilian literary production has taken shape from the contribution of great scholars in the area. Thus, seeking to contribute to the advancement of these reflections, this article aims to analyze, from an analogical perspective, the work Gaibéus, by the Portuguese writer Alves Redol, and Cacau, by Jorge Amado, considering adversity and social justice from the interfaces present in both works and the literature compared and contextualized in historical-social time and space. The research methodology is of a qualitative nature, centered on a bibliographical study based on dissertations, articles and theses on the theme worked on. The theoretical contribution is supported by the contributions of Candido (2006); Figueiredo (2012); Lukacs (2000); Torres (1997) and others. The study made it possible to understand that the layer of socially excluded people in the novels analyzed is always made up of workers, who, despite being key players in the production of wealth, never went beyond mere instruments of work.
