DIAGNOSTIC AND THERAPEUTIC APPROACHES IN NON-SMALL CELL LUNG CANCER: A LITERATURE REVIEW

Introduction: Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is a neoplasm with a high incidence and increasing global mortality. Diagnostic advances, such as PET-CT and liquid biopsy, and therapeutic advances, including targeted therapies and immunotherapy, have significantly impacted the management of NSCLC. Objective: This study aims to analyze the latest diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for CPCNP. Methods: A systematic literature search of the last 15 years was conducted, selecting studies pertinent to the theme of CPCNP. Inclusion criteria were strictly applied to select original studies and reviews in peer-reviewed journals. Results and Discussion: Advances in diagnostic approaches include PET-CT and liquid biopsy, while targeted therapies, such as TKI inhibitors, and immunotherapy, such as anti-PD-1/PD-L1 antibodies, have revolutionized the treatment of CPCNP. Challenges remain, such as resistance to treatments and accessibility issues. Conclusion: The need for personalized and multidisciplinary approaches is emphasized, along with the continued importance of research and updating clinical practice to improve outcomes for patients with CPCNP.
