Abstract

Introduction: Vaccination has a fundamental role in public health and in the prevention of many infectious diseases. It is worth mentioning that low vaccination coverage is a worldwide problem, also affecting Brazil. Undoubtedly, understanding the scenario of immunizations and professionals on the frontline of vaccination is essential. Objective: To characterize, from the perspective of Family Health professionals in the municipality of Canoas / RS, the factors of low vaccination coverage and the patterns of attitudes of these professionals to expand vaccination coverage. Method: This is a cross-sectional, descriptive-exploratory study. The research was developed, during the training to update vaccines, to professionals of the Family Health Strategy - nursing technicians (TE) and nurses (E) from the city of Canoas / RS, where instruments were applied regarding their perception in vaccination coverage. Results: Regarding the instruments analyzed, it was possible to notice that there is low vaccination coverage and the main reason was misinformation, being TE (55.8%) and E (57.5%), as well as the lack of knowledge of those responsible for the child. , being TE (55.0%) and E (70.6%), and making more impactful campaigns on social media TE (43.3%) and E (45.0%), promotes knowledge. Conclusion: Therefore, being at the forefront of vaccination allows professionals to understand the reasons for the low vaccination coverage and propose solutions for the municipality of Canoas / RS, to improve vaccination coverage.
